The Reurners is a disaster epic about a husband and wife reporting team investigating accounts of the recently deceased visiting their loved ones, as the world teeters on the brink of nuclear war.

Synopsis

Reports are coming in from across the world of people who have died and are returning to their families exactly one year after their passing.  The visits are brief, and the “Returners” are basically as they were in life, though they all mention the advent of a final Returner: “She is coming.”

Returners have sparked a debate as different nations, cultures and faiths react to them, many seeing their appearance as a sign of the end of times.  Violence in the Middle East brings the world to the brink of nuclear war.

It’s difficult to discount the religious implications, especially when multi-hued storm clouds, tremendously explosive thunder and large, glowing raindrops cover the Earth, blocking out all sunlight.

In the face of worldwide disaster, David and Susan are assigned to investigate the “Returners.” Their task isn’t easy: society is falling apart, with many people staying home to be with their families, and violence breaking out in the streets.

As TV’s and radios in the background constantly update the coming war, David and Susan chase down leads as disparate as a contact in the CIA and experts in science and religion.  And yet they get no closer to understanding what’s happening – no one has any answers.

Meanwhile, the clock ticks down, as the Returners promise the arrival of “Her” at eleven.  With World War Three about to be declared David and Susan meet with a Returner in the hopes of learning if there is a way to save the world.
